We plan to inform the people about the plans of TimberWest Ltd. to log in the upper Walbran Watershed.
TimberWest td.(Div. of Fletcher-Challenge is planning to log Block 157a in the Upper Walbran Watershed. TimberWest has gone to Supreme Court to file an injunction to stop all protests of the planned cut in the Walbran. The Upper Walbran has been designated as a Special Management Zone, due to the bio-diversity of the area and the fragile ecosystem that makes up the Upper valley Watershed. The watershed is part of the spawning grounds for Pacific Salmon.
It is the aim of this site to provide information about the progrees of the logging in the Valley and the efforts to stop it. We have a couple of sister sites dealing with the issues of the Walbran Valley. The web site set up by the Sierra Club is down and no longer accessible.
